Princess Alana - The Princess
Princess Alana was raised in a castle and is daughter to the renowned King reuben. She is beautiful, rides a black stallion and is very fond of the pauper and his brother. She lost her mother as a young child and was raised alongside her bother, Prince Marcus. She is a determined, strong willed and courageous Princess.







Rafe - The Pauper
Rafe is the son of a tavern master, raised in a small town with no nobility in his blood. He begins life as a pauper. He is well known for his fist fighting skills as a brawler. He is honest, brave and the only one, in over a century, to be chosen to wear the mask guarded by fallen warriors. He was not born a hero, but has the destiny to become one.




Miller - The Gentleman
Miller is a mysterious character. With roots in piracy, he has connections to Rafe’s father. He is wealthy and loyal to very few, though he honours his word and offers shelter and financial support to Rafe and Sam. He walks like a gentleman, lives in a delapidated mansion, owns a ruby hilted sword and talks in an accent very different to Rafe and Sam. 





Sam - The Friend 
Sam is the younger brother of Rafe. He is somewhat reckless and less responsible than his older brother, though he is no less brave. His hair is blonde and he is tall for his age. Despite his youth, he faces adversity with valour and is able to weild a sword to defend his county and becomes a valuable friend to the Princess. His favourite food is fruit cake!

A cold, earthy smell appeared as he opened his eyes, though for a moment the darkness made him doubt whether his eyes were even open. It was warm and sunny as so often it was in the Grey Valley. Carriage wheels had stirred the dust and fields were brimming with daffodils and daisies, so that a mild haze lingered there. So normal was that day in fact, that the deer in the fields hadn ’ t sensed a thing. Only the soft, eerie lullaby from a solo flute carried any significance at all. It settled in the tiny strands of pollen looming in the air and then travelled in the gentle breeze farther than even ears could hear it. Carried through the grass at the edge of a wood where a great tree sheltered it from the wind. It was here that so many insignificant pieces stitched themselves together. There beneath the grass lay dormant ears, waiting to hear it, listening for any sign that the Grey Valley was in terrible peril once more.
